Amelia has about 11,400 residents across 132 km² in the province of Terni. Its centre sits at 381 metres on a hill overlooking the Tiber valley. The historic centre is enclosed by polygonal walls from the 4th–3rd century BC, built from large boulders fitted together without mortar, and the main entrance is Porta Romana.
In town you can visit the Roman cisterns from the 2nd century AD, a series of ten connected chambers, as well as the Cathedral with its twelve-sided bell tower and the 1st-century AD bronze statue of Germanicus. Outside the centre, the municipality has seven hamlets: Collicello, Foce, Fornole, Macchie, Montecampano, Porchiano and Sambucetole.
Rome is closer to Amelia than to Todi. The Terni–Orte expressway is about ten minutes away, the Orte exit on the A1 motorway just over twenty minutes, and Rome about an hour and a half. Terni is about half an hour away and Todi about 50 minutes. Below you'll find the homes for sale in the municipality, and further down, prices area by area.

Prices: historic centre, Fornole, countryside
The OMI property observatory divides Amelia into three residential zones. In the second half of 2025, standard homes were valued at €750–1,300/m² in the historic centre, €750–1,100/m² in the newer residential area and Fornole, and €500–800/m² in the hamlets and countryside. Villas and detached houses were valued at €700–1,100/m² in Fornole and €600–900/m² in the countryside. These figures assume a property in "normal" condition, so a renovated home or one that needs work often falls outside the range.
Services
The town has Amelia hospital, part of USL Umbria 2, which now operates as a community hospital with 20 beds. Like Todi and Baschi, Amelia has been in seismic zone 2 since 2012. Olive oil from the area is Umbria PDO, with the "Colli Amerini" designation.
